Designer Enrique Pierre was one of them when he took his brainchild of Enrique Pierre Clothing and created concious female fashion by putting together a range of tee's for women who weren't scared to make a statement.
We took some time with Enrique away from the fabric and screen printing to get an idea of how E.P.C came to life and where his cute designs were heading.
BCM : So Enrique, explain the ethos and style of your range, you say you offer a mixture of fashion meeting empowerment?
EPC : We at Enrique Pierre make our tees for the fashion minded woman, the woman who is as sensitive about her tee as she is "Sensitive About Her Shoes". This is the reason why our tees are made to give you a silhouette fit; the supple cotton is forming for a perfect fit, slightly scooped neck, and fashionably shorter sleeves. Our designs are statements for the individuals who wear the tees. On Sunday you feel "Strong & Beautiful," Monday you could be "the Bomb," Tuesday "100% Woman," Wednesday "Pretty Cool," Thursday you "Can See Clearly," Friday "No Monkey Business," and Saturday you could express how unique you really are because "When God Made You He Took His Time." You see there is a shirt for everyday of the week that will express who you are and how you feel; this is why I say that we are offering to women a mixture of fashion meeting empowerment.
BCM : What was the brainchild behind the logos on your tees? We see you working with a women's feminine swagger with the statements your putting out there!
EPC : Tees are billboards, everywhere you go you are promoting what's on the shirt. Many designers have chosen to promote negative images and words on tees. Our focus is to be different and to tap into the spirit of the individuals who wear and see our tees. We are excited that our designs are making a difference in the world, there are countless amount of women that support us and share with us by email many testimonies. A customer shared with us a pleasing story; she had on the "Strong & Beautiful" tee one day and a guy was calling her from down the street trying to get her attention; this individual did not know her name so he called her by what he saw he said "excuse me Strong & Beautiful" this made her smile and she said to herself "that's right you know who I Am Strong & Beautiful."
BCM : And how would you describe the women who wear your line?
EPC : Confident, Strong, Classy, Beautiful, and Intelligent are words that describe the women that wear our line. Women who know who they are and is not ashame to express it to the world.
EPC : Prior to this I was a concert promoter. I have worked with many hip hop artist ie: Jay-Z, Ja-Rule, Lil Kim, Redman & Method man and many more. In 1999 I toured 55 cities in 10 weeks on the Hard Knock Life Tour, I was the exclusive party promoter for Jay-Z. I just took my marketing and promotion skills and put it into EPC, you see as long as I can remember I been an entrepenuer. I always had the ability to sell something. I was born in Panama and raised in Brooklyn NY, my NY upbringing has played a vital part on how I handle and view business. I learned not to ever give up no matter what, if you dream it you can do it, and no success comes without hard work. I apply these principals not only to business but to life as a whole.
BCM : What type of price are we looking at to cop our very own E.P.C tee-shirt?
EPC : All our graphic tees are $14.99, the signature studded tee $19.99, and the old school throwback studded gazelles are $45.00.
BCM : And what would you say the highlight of this year has been for you with the Enrique Pierre Clothing Line?
EPC : We have grown since we first started in 2004, business is going extremely well. We are not just reaching people here in the USA. We are also supported over seas as far as the Netherlands. Our popularity has gotten the attention of some of the industries heavy hitters.
BCM : Are we likely to see the brand on a runway near us?
EPC : We are scheduling that for 2009, this upcoming year EPC will be more visual as far as fashion shows, magazine advertisements, and celebrity endorsements.
BCM : So what else do you have in your range of projects? What else does the man behind the Enrique Pierre brand have in store for the World?
EPC : Well I'm all about giving back. I started a blog page www. enriquepascal. com this page focuses on transforming individuals mind-set. I am getting really good response on this, the world is looking for honesty, integrity, and the real deal. This blog page is really an extension of the tees. Also, I am writing a book and in 2009 I will be going to State and Federal prisons to speak to inmates. It brings me great joy to see people change for the better. No matter what you been through in your life if you are alive there is hope. Ecclesiastes 9:4 reads "Anyone who is among the living has hope: for a live dog is better than a dead lion."
EPC : We sell exclusively on the web www. enriquepierre. com this allows us to control our product and offer the best price.
BCM : Well thank you Enrique, I know I've enjoyed rocking some of your designs, we look forward to seeing the brand grow and flourish. If your interested in finding out more information about the line or joining the E.P.C hit the below links!
